Challenges of Old Age

An article on the challenges of old age.

Old age doesn’t have to be something negative but it does have its challenges. Chronic health conditions, mobility issues, sensory decline and cognitive decline can be challenges. Regular health check ups can help manage health conditions and you can receive the treatment you need. This is the time to address your overall health and adjust former treatments as needed. Screenings can be apart of your medical visit and are recommended for conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, cancer, and osteoporosis.

A balanced diet and hydration can help support overall health. A well-balanced diet can help manage weight and maintain energy levels. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats are ideal for a “well-balanced” diet. Hydration can effect energy and alertness. Poor hydration can effect cognitive function and reduce energy levels.

Physical activity can help prolong good days and general wellness. Physical activity like walking, swimming, aerobics, and yoga can improve cardiovascular health, strength, and flexibility. These activity can also maintain muscle mass and support joint health. As well as prevent falls and maintain mobility. Yoga can help improve both physical and emotional well being by helping maintain flexibility. Yoga can also help eliminate anxiety and produce overall feelings of wellness and peace.
