Pros and Cons of Using a Caregiver Service

An article on the pros and cons of using a caregiver service.

You get to stay in your home

One of the main reasons why people want to hire a caregiving service is that they get to stay home. That means everything to people who love their atmosphere and space. Receiving care from a professional and certified caregiver can be a comfortable experience. You get to enjoy your home, furniture, and all your things exactly the way you want to. Caregivers are trained to help you and to accompany you through your day. They are trained in life saving techniques like CPR and are usually great for conversation and companionship. Light house keeping and tiding up is something that you can talk to your caregiver about because its one of their duties Bathing, dressing, other hygiene tasks, cooking, laundry, and errands are all things you can receive help with when hiring a caregiver. Caregivers can work part time or full time. Even 24 hours 7 days per week if you require it.

Its cheaper

Hiring a personal caregiver to give you personalized care can be a lot cheaper than living in a facility that charges for the space, bills, food, as well as the care. Usually staying in your home where you have been paying the bills for years as well as have all of your own food is cheaper. Owning your home and avoiding the costs for another space is cheaper as well.

Caregiver preparation and selection

Using the information provided like the hour by hour the caregiver will be prepped to the hour. We provide forms for your diet preferences and likes or dislikes for the most personalized care. This approach has you, your day, and your safety in mind. The caregiver will have this information on a device of their choice either phone or tablet. Both you and the assigned caregiver can decide at anytime to request a change either of the client or caregiver. You also have more freedom in performing your own background checks or reference checks prior to the start date.

We covered all the positives of hiring a caregiver but are there any downsides? With all the options available when your choosing your caregiver what is the difficult part of hiring a caregiver?

Finding one

It’s not easy to interview dozens of people find the perfect match for your needs and schedule them on short notice. Many schedules just are in disagreement due to children or other family obligations. Driving distance can be a factor in determining whether a caregiver stays for the long run or runs away. Personalities, tones, workload, home environment, and other preferences are factors in finding a great caregiver. You as the client is always welcome to perform your interview ahead of a hire date which makes hiring someone for your daily routine a breeze.

Choosing to go through an agency is definitely the best option because you are guaranteed a trusted caregiver that goes through extensive background checking. First a reference check is performed. Second a database check is performed that includes five databases. Third a BCI background check is performed or verified if one was taken in the 365 days. Normally this also involves at least a single interview with questions about qualifications, experience, and working style. This does include alot of labor so finding a good caregiver can take time that's why its listed as a con. It does take some time but we can always find you the best care. Please feel free to ask questions or purchase a few hours for yourself or a loved one this Holiday season for the extra care that they need.
