Caregiver Safety

An article on caregiver safety.

Working with an agency you get more support, supervision, and eyes on the caregiving process. This means that you only have to do what is required of you and nothing more. It also means that any other favors or requests that are excessive are off limits. This is reinforced by the agency by having staff available for help. Picky and emotional individuals do exist and even though we can understand the strain an illness can put on an individual something like deep cleaning the kitchen at 6:00am is off limits. As well as other requests that outside of the initial contract. Having a supporter with you can create a fair atmosphere for your workday to be a good one.

Having a choice where and with whom you work can go a long way if your planning on staying in the industry for a few years. At any time you are allowed to call and ask for help. We are always twenty four hours seven days a week ready to step in and get in contact with a guardian on your behalf. We collect daily surveys that help in understanding the overall workday atmosphere which we analyze at the end of each week. This is also used as a metric for work performance. We value your voice and want to hear about your work day and your performance as well. This will be used as a stepping stone to a better paycheck. The more we do this the more the process improves, business grows, and hourly pay rates go up. We want to raise the pay to at least 16.00 per hour for all new employees within the next few months. This trend is our culture and the cycle of improvement and pay raises will continue.

For example an individual has a diagnosis and needs care. When a family member shows up you feel bullied and like the family takes a side against you. You feel disempowered and even helpless. If this happens too often you can call and arrangements can be made for a more suitable home or the client can be asked to keep the emotions at a low around the caregiver in those situations. Caregiver burden and burnout are enough to deal with and with caregivers suffering with higher rates of depression and anxiety it is important to call your agency or answer you daily quality surveys honestly. Read more about caregiver burnout and caregiver burden at championcarecaregivers.odoo.com/blog. This data can be used to improve training modules or better prepare other caregivers or shifts for better service and experience. We are here for both sides and want to provide an excellent experience for both the caregivers and clients.
